Come one, come all...Easter Sunday Worship tomorrow at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lancaster, at 7:45 am and at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Platteville, at 9:15 am. He is risen!
Hello St. Paul's...I was informed that there is work to be done at the church to remove the old organ from our sanctuary. This is a real blessing that things are moving quickly, but obviously at this late time any helping hands would be appreciated. The plan as I was told is to work starting at 8 AM tomorrow. I recommend you contact Irv Lupee @ 608-778-4701 for the latest information on how you can help. I know the help would be appreciated to keep the process of getting the new organ installed moving forward while minimizing the cost of removal. THANK YOU.
Hi St. Paul's. Here's a reminder that tonight we have our last midweek Lenten service at 7:00 PM. Before the service, at 6:00 PM, we have a fellowship potluck, Food is already beginning to arrive so come one, come all, and enjoy this last meal of physical food, and spiritual food, together before Holy Week. See you there! :)
Hello everyone! Tomorrow evening (Wednesday, 3/27) we continue of midweek Lenten series entitled, "Three Words of Truth." Tomorrow we consider our Savior's words, "I Am He." Worship is at 7:00 PM, preceded by a potluck beginning at 6, and catechism class at 5:00. There will be some food left over from the Eugene Olson funeral, and people are asked to supplement with a side, a salad, or a dessert. See you tomorrow!
I am posting here the obituary for our brother in Christ, Eugene Olson. Visitation is Wednesday, 4-7 PM, at the Melby Funeral Home in Platteville, and the funeral is at St. Paul's at 11 AM on Thursday with additional visitation opportunity from 10 AM until the worship service at St. Paul's. Please keep Jeanne and the entire family in your prayers. http://www.melbyfh.com/obituary/eugene-olson
Members of St. Paul's, yesterday afternoon our brother in Christ, Eugene Olson, was called to his eternal home in heaven. I wanted you all to know this so that you could keep Jeanne and all of his family in your prayers at this difficult time. While we know where Eugene is, death was not God's original plan. And so we rightly mourn the loss of Eugene, but not as those without hope. We look forward to our future reunion with him in heaven. The funeral will take place at 11 AM this coming Thursday at St. Paul's. I will post additional details soon. Then I heard a voice from heaven say, "Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on." "Yes," says the Spirit, "they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them." (Revelation 14:13).
Hello everyone! Happy Thursday to all. I just wanted to share this video. If you're a bit discouraged today, if you are down and out, or if your faith is under pressure...don't forget that Jesus has promised to be with you always. You are worth more than many sparrows and you know that he watches over you. He cares for you and loves you. If any of you need to talk or decompress, feel free to contact me to set up an appointment. God bless the rest of your week! -- Pastor K. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPI7WbPyoM8&list=RDDmR0z4EWUjw&index=5
Hello St. Paul's! Here's a reminder that tonight at 7:00 PM is our Lenten worship, preceded by a potluck at 6:00 PM. Catechism will be meeting at 5:00 PM with the opportunity for the students to get food when it is available. See you all tonight!
Hello everyone! Don't forget that we need to "spring forward" our clocks tonight or you will be surprised when you arrive at church tomorrow just in time for the final benediction! :)
Hello St. Paul's! I am really, really enjoying the ministry at St. Paul's and Faith. I am so thankful to Jesus for the amazing grace he showed me in calling me here through you. Jennifer and I are extremely happy to be here. I look forward to many years of bringing the Gospel to you and to our neighbors with you. That having been said, our ministry together will be much more effective as a group effort. When Jesus gave us the command to "go, and make disciples of all nations" (Matthew 28:19) it was a commission given to the entire church. Yes, it was communicated to his closest disciples, but it was a task for all of Jesus' followers. With that in mind, one of my ongoing goals will be to find willing volunteers to assist me with tasks which I could do, but if others would take them on under my guidance, would enable me to focus more effectively on the core ministry tasks for which I am trained. There will be more tasks like this which I identify, but at the moment I am looking for individuals who would be willing to (1) Maintain the church website on an ongoing basis, including the task of uploading service audio (2) Edit/copy/distribute audio CD's for our worship services so they can be physically distributed to those who desire them. I could do these things but these are tasks I would need to learn first, and with Lent upon us, they won't be high priority for me. But if someone (or a group) would like to tackle them, I will make time during Lent to work with you to make it happen to God's glory. To be clear, items (1) and (2) above are separate tasks which are connected, but different people could be doing them. These could be tasks for individuals, or groups, and it could be anyone of any age who would like to try! If you think you would like to take this on, contact me privately and let me know. Thank you all for considering these opportunities to serve Jesus at your congregation.
Hello St. Paul's and Faith....Lent begins this Wednesday, 3/6, with Lenten food fellowship at 6:00 PM in the education building, hosted by the choir, followed by worship at 7:00 PM. All members of Faith and St. Paul's are encouraged to come to our Ash Wednesday service and begin their 40 day journey to Easter with your fellow believers. I hope to see you there! -- Pastor K.
Hello St. Paul's and Faith... although normally my weekly day off will be Fridays, this week it is tomorrow (Thursday) because of my uncle Phil's funeral up in Pardeeville. I also have some transition related business to do up near Milwaukee (related to getting our Real ID drivers' licenses here). So I'll be not working tomorrow. However in emergencies feel free to call me on my cell. I'll be back to normal work schedule Friday. Thanks!
Stay warm and stay safe, everyone! To all of our members whose jobs require them to be out and about, you have our prayers. I will be working (mostly, at least) from the parsonage today. To all students...enjoy your cold day! To everyone...spend some time warming your soul with the Gospel. Open the Bible today :) . God bless you all.
Hello St. Paul's! It's been a crazy, crazy few days for us but we are here in Platteville looking forward to my Sunday afternoon (4 PM) installation service. Our moving van came on Friday, we left Sunday afternoon after a farewell meal in Gibsonia, we arrived Monday evening, and our truck arrived here for delivery on Tuesday. We are beat! But God is good and we are excited for what the future holds for us at St. Paul's and Faith. I'm going to spend the next few days until Sunday unpacking our boxes, settling in, and getting a look at notes that Pastor Voss left me. Bear with me as I seek to get a handle on the various activities and duties of my call. Hopefully it won't be long before we are going full steam but there is a lot to absorb and ramp up. See you all Sunday, and yes, we'll be in the morning worship as worshippers :). Until then, God bless you all! -- Pastor Joel (and Jennifer) Kluender.
